Character Description

Blunt, with a love of theatrics and drama, Kaoru gives off an unyielding sense of confidence that one wouldn't expect from someone his age, or unimpressive height. He's the kind of person who thrives off competition, especially when it involves the spotlight, and makes zero pretenses about his desires or wants. Most would consider him either rude or eccentric, but Kaoru would simply state 'I'm Kaoru' as though that solves any and all questions and concerns regarding his attitude. When it comes to school, he wears the regular academy uniform with the intent of making it seem like no other man would wear it better, and his casual dress is aligns heavily towards trend setting fashion, refusing to merely follow behind another's design or taste. Despite his bluntness and loud personality he has quite the amount of patience and tolerance towards others, willing to help people out if possible or hear out their woes and offer advice, if it wasn't for this aspect of his personality he wouldn't have considered being a hero in the first place. Story

The Genryuu family is no ordinary family, as one might surmise by the luxury surrounding Kaoru himself, but it goes further than merely being a rich family, for their wealth and fame wasn't born from the onset of heroism. Originally the Genryuu were a Yakuza clan settled firmly within Hokkaido, lords of the northern underworld with burning ambitions, ambitions that weren't realized until the early days of Heroism. The quirk that showed up within the family was Telekinesis, and Kaoru's mother, Hibana had a particularly strong mutated variant of it, her quirk was such that she could manipulate objects not that far from her touch with perfect control, but the real strength came within her ability to use her telekinesis upon her own body, a body that would heal rather quicker than normal from the ravages of a child unconsciously breaking the limits of their strength and injuring themselves in the process. As a young adult Hibana had made a name for herself in the underworld as the "Orochi", a masked Yakuza woman capable of firing punches and kicks so fast it looked like there were multiple limbs, 'heads' of a dragon, appropriate due to the family's namesake.

Taking it upon herself to expand, not satisfied with the Clan's grip over Hokkaido and moving onto Honshuu, the main island of Japan, she carved a bloody swathe to plant a firm presence within the underworld while the family's cover business of being a clothing manufacture and textile producer remained on the level, only stopping her quest for expansion upon coming into contact with a foreigner, the man who would be Kaoru's father. Khaled Mahmoud was an Egyptian musician, who's quirk was controlling strings, allowing him to serve as a one man concert for the most part, and the two met during one of his concerts, hitting it off soon after, the objections to their marriage covered up under the excuse of trying to 'merge' their quirks to create a powerful heir, which worked in a sense. The Genryuu's natural propensity for telekinetics was mixed with Khaled's Quirk of string manipulation to give birth to Kaoru's ability to completely control fabrics down to their base fibers. Perhaps because of this Kaoru found himself with a yearning to make clothes himself.

Kaoru grew up with the infamy and fame of his name, not knowing the truth behind his family's wealth and prestige as a much younger child. He didn't question why there were always a bunch of adults coming to and from the main house, or why his mother seemed to be like a different person when she talked to them. His father for the most part remained uninvolved in the 'business' and more involved in his son's life, urging him to seek out a creative passion and pursue it. What started initially as a desire to draw became a desire to -design-, once his quirk manifested, he began manipulating and creating clothing in unique, unseen ways. His mother approved, as it gave a way to further the legitimacy of the family's front businesses, and so young Kaoru delved into the world of fashion with blissful ignorance. As the saying goes however, ignorance does not excuse one from sin, and during one of his first shows, the lad had been kidnapped by a rival faction in an attempt to convince his mother to stop expanding into the mainland.

Range: Medium

Description

Fiber Master allows Kaoru to freely control and manipulate textiles. From his own clothes to those of others, so long as it is within his range he is capable of bending it to his will and doing with it as he pleases. The difference comes from the type of textiles he manipulates with certain ones being easier than others. The more power he is capable of exerting over a certain kind of textile the stronger it becomes in actuality, making him turn what looks like simple clothes into bindings stronger than steel cuffs. Currently leather and denim based products are his proud specialty.
Drawback(s): Textiles he has difficulty controlling take up all of his attention and focus to remain upon, at best he could barely restrain a weaker than average person, at worst he'd just manipulate a single strand that would be harmless.
Current Limitation(s): Fully cotton and polyester based textiles are the hardest for him to manipulate.
